There are a ways to D-Link WUA-1340 WLAN about getting things to work. I do not know of any way around using ndiswrapper but it seems to work for myself and others. You can install drivers in windows and find files, copy them to cd or usb drive, rewritable media etc.
Then in Ubuntu copy files from rewritable media to hard disk that runs Ubuntu. If necessary copy files to Ubuntu disk.
I don't know if it is necessary. If you do not have disk the d-link installer can be found D-Link WUA-1340 WLAN You can install Wine winehq. I got D-Link WUA-1340 WLAN to compile from but I don't know how to compile from source yet and I ran into problems, so I took easier route of downloading package installer. Run card installer in wine.

Files are now available for ndiswrapper. Install ndiswrapper on your system.
I also installed ndiswrapper using 'synaptic package manager' 2. Before going on with ndiswrapper you will need to blacklist the current driver that D-Link WUA-1340 WLAN is using.
This will probably be 'rt73usb'. Some people are reporting the location of there d-link driver files as being in 'Program Files-- D Link — drivers.
However mine were not. This folder contained Config.

Windows stores most of device drivers in 'Windows — System32' folder I believe So you might need to run a file search in system I found my 'Dr71WU. When you type in command D-Link WUA-1340 WLAN, everything is case sensitive so D-Link WUA-1340 WLAN must make sure that you type exact. I did this all in terminal, so I was able to open 'file-- properties' in Nautilus and copy file name, paste it in terminal so that it was correct. Go to configure network devices and enter info for your network under your card.
Mine was was simply wireless connection. Previously it was listed as wlan0 or something like that.
