I like them, just as far as the recreation side of my laptop use goes, it's predominately playing old windows and dos games. I don't know how to do that in Linux, then there are the compatibility issues. When I used it I found it faster than windows, but it still had issues. I've never watched video in Linux.

Now that you mentioned it, I think the issue with the video tearing is the video card. It's an intermittent issue.
