Exact same performance - decent speedtests under normal circumstances, but as soon as I VPN or slingbox, it maxes out around 2.

Both my current router, and this second router, worked fine with VPN traffic previously. For the sake of being thorough: And the real head scratcher is that I have an identical setup at my office. When I VPN into my office and run a speedtest, I am getting download speeds of 14 or 15, which is exactly what you'd expect with my office upload speed of Shaw says that their Gateway M-150 Realtek Card Reader, modem, and network in the area are just fine.
But the problems persist with two different routers and VPN protocols, when both worked fine previously. Shaw had an outage in my area Tuscany last Wednesday, and although I can't say for sure, these problems appeared around then. Possible coincidence, I suppose. Shaw Gateway M-150 Realtek Card Reader claims not to throttle VPN connections, which I do actually believe. My outbound VPN connection to my office works fine, for example.

Either their modem or network? Sorry for the rambles, but this one has me stumped. Shaw is sending out a tech on Monday, but I have a feeling he'll do what they've already over live chat: So I can unbridge my modem, and use IP passthough for my wifi router with no issues? I may do that My PS4 and Xbox also have worse speeds when wired, its driving me crazy I just fished wires through the walls Gateway M-150 Realtek Card Reader my basement.
I'd suggest a dodgy cable, but if it is happening on more than one device, I'm not sure.

Finger Cookin If it is, do you have it port forwarded in your router settings? With the Hitron, you can't even enter the admin page in a browser. On my old Cisco, though, I could check the settings on both my router and the Shaw router to ensure any ports were probably forwarded on both for example, for FTP. In this case with both routersthe routers themselves are the VPN servers.
So just by enabling the VPN server on each device, they do allow their traffic through their firewall. I've got the Hitron modem working in bridged mode, so that renders it just a "dumb" modem, and all routing and firewall features are disabled.
Randomly, for about 5 minutes earlier this evening, I was able to get a reasonable throughput through the VPN. I thought that maybe it was fixed, but it reverted back to the really slow levels shortly thereafter. In the 5 minutes, I was able to test both routers and Gateway M-150 Realtek Card Reader slingbox, and the speed increase was noticeable on each.

As fleeting as it was, I was able to confirm that all 3 independent devices were able to take advantage of the brief increase in speed, which further rules out my equipment as the problem. I booked a service call for next week regardless, so we'll see what they say.
As an example the Apple TV 4 does about 90mb wired but on wireless ac. I was curious, so I looked this up.
Sure enough, the Apple TV 4 does Of all the things you could have cheaped out on, you picked the gigabit ethernet card? Nothing the Apple TV does requires bandwidth over mbps. We recommend to disable Gateway M-150 Realtek Card Reader internal Wi-Fi or to use a powered USB hub or cable to help get the nano adapter out of range of other signals. Peer-to-Peer Ad-Hoc connections Because of its small size, the adapter is especially useful for setting up a separate, peer-to-peer ad hoc connection between two wifi adapters.
